H.E. Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Visited KAHRAMAA

H.E. the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani visited, on Thursday 15/1/2015, Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation “KAHRAMAA” to get briefed on the progress of work at the corporation's current projects, future and executive plans, as well as strategic and vital projects in the state.
H.E. the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior was received by H.E. Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sada, Minister of Energy & Industry, and H.E. Eng. Essa bin Hilal Al-Kuwari, KAHRAMAA President, and a number of KAHRAMAA Directors and Managers.
During his visit, H.E. the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior attended a presentation on the main projects implemented by KAHRAMAA and its preparations in various sectors including consumer services, water, electricity, district cooling, conservation and energy efficiency as well as future plans.
The presentation also included a review of KAHRAMAA's service and standby centers, electronic services provided by KAHRAMAA and plans aimed to improve the service. In this respect HE the Prime Minister underlined the importance of developing and improving services provided to nationals and expatriates as well as paying great concern to infrastructure projects. He also reviewed a project for early connection delivery of electricity and water to the unconstructed land plots. HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani meanwhile praised the performance indicators of the electricity grid in Qatar, and the outstanding level it achieved on the region level, the coverage of electricity and water networks which reached 100% and the water security projects, including the construction of main giant reservoirs to provide a strategic reserve of water storage.
He was also briefed on achievements conservation and energy Efficiency sector  since the launch of the national program for conservation and energy efficiency “Tarsheed” in 2012, drawing attention to the importance of awareness and its role in reducing consumption and waste, especially in water.
H.E. the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior reviewed the role of KAHRAMAA in providing electricity and water services to vital projects in the state including the Doha New Port Project, Qatar Rail, the World Cup projects and others. He was briefed by a number of KAHRAMAA  Directors and Managers on a number of projects being carried by the corporation and work progress.
During the visit, H.E. the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior toured the corporation's Crises Management Room where he was briefed on the monitoring and control system and KAHRAMAA crisis management plan.
H.E. Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani meanwhile- launched the smart meters  system which is one of the most advanced systems in the world, based on the remote reading system.
On this occasion, H.E. the Minister of Energy and Industry Dr. Mohamed bin Saleh Al-Sada said the visit of H.E. the Prime Minister to KAHRAMAA highlights his keenness to closely follow up the progress of the projects carried out by KAHRAMAA and reflects the attention the state pays to the electricity and water sector. It also reflects the keenness of H.E. the Prime Minister to provide full support to KAHRAMAA to enable it complete projects within the set time frame and in accordance with the required quality and standards, Dr. Al-Sada added.
