H.E. Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sada, The Minister of Energy & Industry and H.E. Eng. Essa bin Hilal Al-Kuwari the President of Qatar General Electricity & water Corporation “KAHRAMAA” paid an inspection visit on Sunday 18/05/2014 to the National Control Centers of KAHRAMAA electricity and water networks. They were accompanied by a number of KAHRAMAA Directors, Managers, and senior engineers.
The visit was meant to get acquainted of KAHRAMAA plans and readiness to meet the coming summer with the expected peak loads especially during the holy month of Ramadan. The senior officials reviewed KAHRAMAA efforts to develop electricity and water services.
During the tour, Al-Sada and Al-Kuwari visited the National Control Center (NCC) of electricity transmission and distribution networks. The center applies the state of the art technology related to system control and operation; and the water network control center which controls pumping, and storage. They also visited the crisis management room recently established in the National Control Center of electricity network.
The Minister reviewed the development of the GCC interconnection project as Qatar network 400 kv was recently connected to the GCC interconnection grid to increase the capacity of electricity exchange of Qatar interconnection lines to 1200 kv.
At the end of the tour, Dr. Al-Sada said, “KAHRAMAA is ready to deal with emergency cases or load increase that may occur during the coming period.” The Minster stressed that KAHRAMAA endeavors to upgrade services delivered to customers “the corporation is committed to excellence in services as a key issue of its long term strategy recently launched” he added. Al-Sada appreciated efforts exerted by KAHRAMAA to ensure the good management of control centers as per the highest standards and practices.
On his part Al-Kuwari said “KAHRAMAA control center monitors and controls electricity and water networks using state of the art technologies. The center is operated by a qualified staff to ensure uninterrupted supplies.”. Al-Kuwari added that KAHRAMAA is ready to meet the challenges of summer season and the holy month of Ramadan. “KAHRAMAA endeavors to achieve Excel at Customer Services and Provide High Quality Water and Electricity as key objectives.” He highlighted.
The electricity control center monitors electricity transmission and distribution networks using the state of the art technology to deal with emergency cases. The water control center is meant to enhance pumping and storage systems, it also monitors water distribution. The State of Qatar is the first among GCC countries to apply the integrated system used in the water control centers. It reflects the development electricity and water sector witnesses.
