KAHRAMAA invites entries for Tarsheed Best Renewable Energy Initiative

​Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA)  has started receiving entries for its ‘Best Renewable Energy Initiative Competition’ as part of its National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency- Tarsheed. Winners will be announced and honored at Tarsheed 4th Annual Celebration to be held on 21st April 2016.

The launched competition by KAHRAMAA’s Conservation and Energy Efficiency Department is open to all sectors being existed locally including citizen and residents living in Qatar as well. It aims at supporting the development of Renewable Energy innovative technologies and business models that promote energy efficiency and help in cutting carbon emissions for Qatar’s sustainable future. It is also aimed at promoting environmental awareness and inculcating culture of efficient usage of the natural resources in order to have better life and to achieve the slogan of Tarsheed, “Keep Qatar Pulsing” in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.

The entries are being accepted/uploaded on KAHRAMAA website until April 01, 2016 using the link http://www.km.com.qa/Tarsheed/Pages/RenewableEnergy.aspx.  All invited entries must comply with Qatar’s moral values and its National identity. The entries must be submitted with the form available through the link highlighting the salient description of the initiative explored and its financial viability. All entries must be complied with the terms & conditions as mentioned at the website. For more details, applicants may call up +974 44846878.

KAHRAMAA, through Tarsheed,  is committed to its responsibility for providing sustainable resources for electricity and water for the benefits of the nation and for improving the quality life for the generations to come in line with QNV 2030 and NDS 2011-2016 which call for environmental management and protection aimed at ensuring harmony and consistency with economic and social development.

On the renewable energy initiatives, KAHRAMAA’s approach has moved beyond keeping an open outlook on emerging new technologies in solar and wind energy to embrace and formulate plans and implementing new projects. It’s worth noting that The National program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed) which was first launched as a campaign in year 2012 under the patronage of His Highness the Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al- Thani, is marching towards achieving good result. The prime target of Tarsheed is to reduce the per capita water and electricity consumption in Qatar by 35% & 20%, respectively until 2017.​
