KAHRAMAA
represented by the National Program for the Conservation and Energy Efficiency
(Tarsheed) has organized a full- day event today at iconic KAHRAMAA Awareness
Park (KAP) to create awareness among environment- friendly communities and
stakeholders about the recycling of vehicles’ tires, its mechanism, process,
involved health hazard, environmental concerns among others, aiming to protect
environment from the solid waste in the shape of used tires.
The event with
the theme ‘Old tires New Life’ was attended by the KAHRAMAA’s Tarsheed department
Manager Mr. Abdul Azeez Al- Hammadi, Public Relations & Communication
Manager, Mr. Mohamed Ali Saleh Al- Mohannadi and a number of senior
functionaries of KAHRAMAA and other organisations including above 700 children
from Independent and Private schools. The full- day event commenced at 8 AM
morning and came to an end at 8 PM.
The event comes as an initiative by KAHRAMAA to raise
awareness about climate change and to reduce carbon emission by 7% until 2022.
In order to achieve the objectives of the National Program for Conservation and
Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed), the participants were explained about the health
and environmental hazards of burning tires and encouraged on recycling aspects
in the arena of art, agriculture and sport activities.
The recycling awareness event aimed at promoting a
culture of sustainability to reduce carbon emissions and engaging the private
sector in national initiatives, which in turn reflect efforts to achieve
Qatar's vision. More than 500 frames were presented by Q-Tire as the official
sponsor of the initiative, as well as of Aspire Zone Sports Activities.
Interested
participants were explained about the entire process of tires’ recycling and
its ways and means to help Qatar achieve its environmental mission as envisaged
in Qatar National Vision (QNV) 2030.
The tires that
motorists drive on the road can be recycled in various forms. Apart from its,
tires may be shredded and burned for specific purpose or pulverised to bits to
be used to fill in a playground or football field. The importance of recycling
tires cannot be overemphasized as this is not only keeping the environment
clean but also promoting good health by preventing the possible spread of
diseases.
