KAHRAMAA Organizes 'Planting of 70 Local Trees'

General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA), represented in the
National Program for Conservation and Energy
Efficiency (Tarsheed), organized the "Planting of 70 Local Trees"
event on Wednesday, November 28, at the KAHRAMAA Awareness Park. The event was
held in cooperation with the Environmental Association Al Shabhanah (EAA), and aimed
to protect rare national trees from extinction.
This event comes within the framework of achieving one of the
pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030 in order to preserve the national
environmental heritage for future generations by informing various categories
of society about the importance of Qatari trees and the need to preserve crops
that are under threat of extinction.
attendants included Eng. Abdul Aziz Ahmad Al-Hamadi – KAHRAMAA's Manager of
Conservation and Energy Efficiency Department, Eng. Abdulla Al Khater – head of
the EAA, as well as a number of subject matter specialists and concerned
persons. These included Mr. Abdulla Al-Kuwari from Nomas Center and Dr. Haya
Al-Maadidi, an EAA member. Besides, school students were also among the
distinguished attendees of the event. This participation comes as part of
KAHRAMAA's interest in the environmental field and endeavor to pursue its
corporate objective to “increase social advocacy and environmental compliance”.
featured the first phase of this project, where five local species were
planted. Later on, the project will be completed by planting 70 trees,
including the Acacia Tortilis, Prosopis, Acacia Bark, Assyrian plum, Acacia, Christ's-thorn,
Boxthorn and Acacia Ehrenbergiana. The trees served as a living example of the
first environmental exhibition of local plants in the outdoor section of KAHRAMAA
