The Engineering and Production Committee of the Arab Union of Electricity (AUE) held its periodical meeting recently in Doha under the patronage of Eng. Essa bin Hilal Al- Kuwari, the AUE’s Chairman and the President of KAHRAMAA.
A large number of representatives from most of the Arab countries who were present in the meeting, discussed issues related with generation and pertaining transmission matters of the Arab countries. The participants also discussed ways and means to enhance coordination and cooperation levels in Arab world in connection with power generation and related transmission.
The committee shared full information on generation and associated transmission data of participating countries including its suppliers and manufacturers. In the meeting, representatives of major manufacturers, GE and Alstom were also present.
Besides, the committee also discussed the issues pertaining to the strategic spare parts in connection with generation and transmission and its availability in Arab countries in case of shortage or any other emergency.
Arab Union of Electricity was established in 1987 as a gesture of a group of Arab electrical companies with the purpose of strengthening ties between members to improve power manufacturing in the Arab World. The AUE is situated in Amman, the Hashemite kingdom of Jordan. It consists of 19 countries which are: - Jordan, UAE, Bahrain, Tunisia, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Iraq, Sultanate of Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Egypt, Morocco, Mauritania and Yemen. The AUE aims at improving and developing the electricity sector in the Arab World, coordinating work fields between members and strengthening relations between them.
