The Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) and the National Service Academy (NSA) recently celebrated the graduation of the first cohort of National Service Recruits Training Program. The graduation comes after recruits successfully completed the theoretical and practical requirements of the program, and after passing individual and group tests with an overall average of more than 95 percent.

The graduation ceremony, held at the Miqdam Camp was attended by Eng. Issa bin Hilal Al-Kuwari, President of KAHRAMAA, Major-General Hamad Ahmed Al Nuaimi, Deputy Chief of Staff for Education and Training, Staff Major-General Saeed Bin Hamad Al Nuaimi, NSA President, the team and staff of the program from both KAHRAMAA and NSA, as well as the graduating recruits.

Over a period of three months, the recruits received extensive theoretical and practical training on how to operate and manage water pumping stations, electricity and water installations, conservation techniques and other operations at the hands of a distinguished group of engineers from KAHRAMAA.

The participants underwent 300 hours of theoretical and practical training. They were divided into six groups in line with the social distancing measures imposed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, and to ensure they gain maximum benefit from the program.

The program covered three technical fields, namely: operating water pumping stations, energy and conservation technologies, and water and electricity installations. Several workshops were held for this purpose, during which recruits were trained on how to execute these installations.

Also, as part of the program, the recruits prepared (20) technical reports on (6) water pumping stations, including daily reports, unexpected malfunctions, and how to communicate with supervisors to report such cases as soon as they occurred.

KAHRAMAA commended the recruits 'commitment to safety and security requirements throughout the training period, and congratulated the graduates on their excellent performance, and their eagerness to acquire knowledge. KAHRAMAA further applauded the idea behind the program, which provided recruits with the opportunity to learn how to manage pumping stations and hoped that they would continue training to enrich their technical knowledge.

The graduates expressed their happiness with the high-quality training they received on KAHRAMAA's systems, which enhanced their knowledge of the specifications applied by the corporation, that are in par with quality standards adopted locally and internationally, to ensure the continuous and safe delivery of services to customers.

The program was part of a partnership agreement signed between KAHRAMAA and the Ministry of Defence, represented by the NSA, last October, which provides for strengthening bilateral cooperation in various fields, especially training, as well as exchanging experiences, implementing joint projects and other related initiatives.

KAHRAMAA is proud to have prepared the program's theoretical and practical content, and to implement it from start to finish. Thus, being the first government agency from outside the military sector to carry out a program to hone the non-military skills of recruits and provide them with technical expertise specific to the operations of the electricity and water sectors.

KAHRAMAA looks forward to more cooperation and coordination with the NSA, to continue the implementation of this ambitious program that contributes to the four development pillars of QNV 2030, especially as it harnessed all human and technical capabilities and resources to achieve its goals, which in turn enabled the recruits to pass it proficiently.

The Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation expressed its thanks and appreciation to NSA's president, officers and staff, for their cooperation in making this program a success.
