KAHRAMAA represented by the National Program for the Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed) has organized a full- day event today at iconic KAHRAMAA Awareness Park (KAP) to create awareness among environment- friendly communities and stakeholders about the recycling of vehicles’ tires, its mechanism, process, involved health hazard, environmental concerns among others, aiming to protect environment from the solid waste in the shape of used tires.

The event with the theme ‘Old tires New Life’ was attended by the KAHRAMAA’s Tarsheed department Manager Mr. Abdul Azeez Al- Hammadi, Public Relations & Communication Manager, Mr. Mohamed Ali Saleh Al- Mohannadi and a number of senior functionaries of KAHRAMAA and other organisations including above 700 children from Independent and Private schools. The full- day event commenced at 8 AM morning and came to an end at 8 PM.

The event comes as an initiative by KAHRAMAA to raise awareness about climate change and to reduce carbon emission by 7% until 2022. In order to achieve the objectives of the National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed), the participants were explained about the health and environmental hazards of burning tires and encouraged on recycling aspects in the arena of art, agriculture and sport activities.

The recycling awareness event aimed at promoting a culture of sustainability to reduce carbon emissions and engaging the private sector in national initiatives, which in turn reflect efforts to achieve Qatar's vision. More than 500 frames were presented by Q-Tire as the official sponsor of the initiative, as well as of Aspire Zone Sports Activities.

Interested participants were explained about the entire process of tires’ recycling and its ways and means to help Qatar achieve its environmental mission as envisaged in Qatar National Vision (QNV) 2030.

The tires that motorists drive on the road can be recycled in various forms. Apart from its, tires may be shredded and burned for specific purpose or pulverised to bits to be used to fill in a playground or football field. The importance of recycling tires cannot be overemphasized as this is not only keeping the environment clean but also promoting good health by preventing the possible spread of diseases.
