Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation “KAHRAMAA”
commissioned Doha West electricity Substation, the fourth substation for Doha
Metro, KAHRAMAA implemented for Qatar Rail Company “Rail”.
Doha West Metro 220/132/33KV Substation is part of phase XII of
Qatar Electricity Transmission Network Expansion Project. It is fed by Dukhan
super, Ras Laffan-1 and Bani Hajar super substations. The total cost of the
project is Q.R. 165 m.
The Doha west substation is equipped with special technology to
ensure power supply at any emergency situation. KAHRAMAA works to provide high
reliability network as per the highest international standards that meet the
requirements of Doha Metro project in coordination with Qatar Rail.
The commissioning of West Doha substations is one of KAHRAMAA
achievements as a key partner in Qatar development projects. It reflects
KAHRAMAA commitment to implement infrastructure projects as per the set
timeframe.
KAHRAMAA is applying the highest standards of safety and security,
and as a result, the substation had been completed in 22 months with 1 million
man hours without Lost Time Injury (LTI).
KAHRAMAA gives top priority to the welfare of workers to improve their
living condition considering them partners in success. It is reflected in
productivity increase.
KAHRAMAA implements five substations for Qatar Rail to provide
power for Doha Metro. With the commissioning of Doha west, it has completed 4
substations (Abu Fontas in July 2017, Lusail in March 2018, Waab in June 2018).
The fifth substation Al Bidda with car parking facility is planned to be
commissioned in the 2nd quarter of 2019.
