Qatar
General Electricity and Water Corporation “KAHRAMAA” has announced the start of
receiving applications to participate in the Best Green Sustainable Initiative
Competition under the theme 'Green Energy for Sustainable Qatar', which is
among the initiatives of the National Program for Conservation
and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed).
All
applications shall be submitted through Tarsheed page on KAHRAMAA website
km.qa/Tarsheed, after reviewing the terms and conditions, and filling in the
registration form. Applications to participate in the competition will continue
until 1 April 2018.
The
competition is meant to create environmental awareness about the concept of
sustainable energy in the society and raise public awareness about the culture
of the efficient use of natural resources for a better life. It also aims at
achieving the slogan of the National Program for Conservation and Energy
Efficiency (Tarsheed): "Keep Qatar Pulsing" in line with
the Qatar National Vision 2030.
KAHRAMAA
renews its commitment to its responsibility for providing sustainable resources
of electricity and water and improving the quality of life for future
generations.
The
Department of Conservation and Energy Efficiency at KAHRAMAA has launched the
competition that includes all sectors and accepts initiatives from individuals
and companies.
The participation is open to Qataris and residents in Qatar with a view to
support the development and innovation of technology and business models that
promote sustainable energy and its efficiency and help reduce harmful carbon
emissions for a sustainable future in the country. The competition also
includes the study of projects and initiatives being implemented in Qatar.
Winners will be announced and honored at Tarsheed 6th Annual celebration to be
held in April 2018.
It is worth
mentioning that KAHRAMAA - represents in the
National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency
“Tarsheed” - contributes to the deployment of renewable energy technologies and
culture by providing the necessary technical support to all state entities,
especially in relation to solar energy, as well as encouraging the various
sectors to adopt renewable energy solutions such as solar heaters and solar
panels, etc.
KAHRAMAA,
through Tarsheed 22 Project, has installed solar panels and renewable energy
systems in the three winning schools; the first stage. New techniques are being
implemented in the three winning schools in the second phase of Tarsheed 22 in
cooperation with the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy. The regulations
of solar panels associated and non-associated with the network, as well as
regulations of solar heaters, have been completed. A committee, headed by the
Ministry of Energy and Industry and with the participation of KAHRAMAA, is
currently conducting a strategic study and a comprehensive roadmap for
renewable energy in Qatar that includes policies, tariffs and related
regulations.
