KAHRAMAA participates at GCC Power 2017

A high level delegation from Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) is participating at GCC power 2017: 13th GCC – CIGRE International Conference and 22nd Exhibition for Electrical Equipment being organized by GCC CIGRE and hosted by the Oman’s Public Authority for Electricity & Water. The three- day event held from 16- 18th Oct is being organized under the patronage of HE Mohammed bin Salim al Tobi, the Minister of Environment and Climate Affairs, Sultanate of Oman.
The event brings together policy makers, transmission and distribution industry professionals, technology leaders, delegate, exhibitors, and experts among others offering a good opportunity for utility industry professionals to discuss and share their views and experiences concerning relevant aspects of research, manufacturing and utility management. It aims to develop the electricity industry by presenting the latest international experiences and techniques in the arena of power generation, transmission and distribution across the GCC specialists.
The conference will have a number of panel discussions, presentations, plenary sessions, tutorials and research- related activities among others. The conference will highlight the regional electrical connection, the use of modern technologies, the establishment of markets for electric power, smart networks, renewable energy among others.
The State of Qatar supports GCC Cigre through various ways to ensure its financial sustainability to achieve its objectives for the development of GCC electricity sector. Moreover, KAHRAMAA is represented in GCC Cigre board of directors and Secretary General position.
 
GCC-Cigre was established under the umbrella of the Gulf Cooperative Council in accordance with a recommendation from their Excellencies GCC Ministers of Electricity & Water during their second meeting held in Kuwait on 22nd April 1985 under the patronage and auspices of Gulf Cooperative Council. The GCC’s General Secretariat, together with the Secretary General, of the International Council for large Electric Systems “CIGRE” drafted the Committee’s basic law. The Committee, a non- profit institution, is an affiliate of the International Council and is mainly devoted to encourage and develop scientific researches and studies in the field of Electricity Systems
