Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation “KAHRAMAA”, represented in Conservation & Energy Efficiency Department; has participated in the international workshop of “Towards A Global Network of Water Museums for Sustainable Future”. The program is sponsored by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the Organization of Hydrological Education and Science in Europe. The workshop which has been launched in Venice– Italy, started on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 and will last until May 4, 2017.
The Qatari Representative Delegation has involved via presenting the project of KAHRAMAA Awareness Park, where Mrs. Fatima Al-Mesnad, Head (Community Awareness & Development) at Conservation and Energy Efficiency Department, and Mrs. Alyaa Mohammed Al-Jemaei, Conservation Trainer; talked about water resources and sustainability as well as highlighted KAHRAMAA role in attaining United Nations Millennium Development Goals. The workshop will discuss and exchange experiences between stakeholders in the field of water network museums regarding water issues and sustainability. In addition, initiatives, programs and policies related to protection of water resources, projects, exhibitions, and water museums that contribute to sustain water resources will be presented.
KAHRAMAA representatives also will review the Corporation’s most important achievements and announce the results achieved in reducing individual consumption of water in Qatar through the National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency, believing in KAHRAMAA’s role in raising awareness to adopt precautionary steps in order to reduce water consumption. Moreover, the educational sector such as schools, universities, and colleges will be involved within KAHRAMAA activities because this sector represents the future of Qatar.
KAHRAMAA Awareness Park is a project of National Program “Tarsheed” and was inaugurated at the fifth annual celebration under the slogan “one promise, one journey”, which expresses KAHRAMAA’s role in supporting development to cope with Qatar National Vision 2030. This educational edifice will provide various activities and services that aim at raising awareness and knowledge of great benefits resulted from conserving energy as well as damages resulted from wasting consumption. This project is unique in the Middle East Region and will make a great movement in the environmental awareness field.
