KAHRAMAA tightens grip on Conservation Law

1
In accordance with the newly amended provisions in Law number 26 of 2008 promulgated through the Law number 20 of 2015, Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) is all set to implement the added clauses of the law on rationalization of water and electricity consumption.

The Conservation and Energy Efficiency Department of KAHRAMAA through its National Program for Conservation & Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed) is taking all measures to stop extravagance of country’s vital resources of electricity and water, ensuring Qatar’s resources are protected for future generations.

In a move to check violations of the Law of the land, KAHRAMAA has unearthed almost 2800 cases of the violation of the law on rationalization of water and electricity consumption since the beginning of the year until August 2015. The number of violations for the electricity misuse was 1506 and for the water the total violations recorded were 1279.

The issuance of the new law compliments KAHRAMAA’s ongoing Tarsheed campaign to encourage rationalization of water and electricity.  The prime objective of Tarsheed is to reduce per capita water and electricity consumption in Qatar by 35% and 20%, respectively until 2017.
