KHRAMAA hails its Tarsheed partners for their contributions

​Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) has appreciated its Tarsheed’s partners for their contributions in achieving commendable results for its ongoing National Program for Conservation & Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed).
The program which has been initiated in 2012 by the Conservation & Energy Efficiency department of KAHRAMAA under the patronage of the Emir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al- Thani to help achieve Qatar National Vision 2030, has recently held its Third Anniversary.
The significant achievements of the ongoing program have added values to the efforts of all Tarsheed’s partners who are contributing in achieving the set out targets of reducing Electricity and Water consumptions by 20% and 35%, respectively until 2017.
The grand celebration which was hosted recently by KAHRAMAA to mark the 3rd anniversary of Tarsheed witnessed the felicitations of all Tarsheed’s partners for their lauded contribution in the arena of conservation. KAHRAMAA’s Conservation & Energy Efficiency department has signed total 46 Memorandum of Understandings, aiming rationalizing the consumption of water and electricity and intensifying  the culture of conservation of vital resources in Qatar in all segments of society. 
The celebration which was guided and supported by the Prime Minister and Interior Minister, H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani was graced with the presence of the Minister of Energy and Industry, HE Dr. Mohamed Bin Saleh Al Sada, Minister of Environment, HE Ahmed Amer Mohamed al-Humaidi, KAHRAMAA’s president, HE Eng. Essa Bin Hilal Al- Kuwari, dignitaries, diplomats, high level officials from Government and private sectors, Media professionals, senior functionaries of KAHRAMAA, Environment- champions, school children and others.
The National Programme for Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed) has managed to reduce per capita consumption of electricity and water by 11 percent each since its inception, Minister of Energy and Industry HE Dr Mohamed bin Saleh Al Sada announced at the ceremony. He said the campaign has thereby reduced carbon dioxide emissions by 1.8 million tones, and gas waste by 43,000 million cubic feet, and saving QR600 million till the end of 2014.
KAHRAMAA’s president HE Eng. Essa bin Hilal Al-Kuwari complimented the efforts that have been made by the Tarsheed’s partners, residents, institutions and establishments in helping to reduce the consumption of electricity and water in the last three years.
Speaking at the occasion, Eng. Ali Mohammed Al- Ali, Manager, Customer Services & Conservation & Energy Efficiency at KAHRAMAA conveyed his sincere thanks and gratitude to all Tarsheed partners for their wonderful contributions.
During felicitation ceremony, a number of higher ups from organizations partnering with Tarsheed program have spoken high about their collaborations with the National Program.
Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Hasan Al- Thwadi, Secretary- General of Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy said: “Legacy, innovation and sustainability have always been at the forefront of our thinking since we bid to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup. I would like to extend my deepest thanks to KAHRAMAA for involving us in the program and felicitating us at the occasion. We are pleased to play a role in this important program by bringing the spirit of football and sport to T22, a joint collaborative project between KAHRAMAA’s Conservation & Energy Efficiency department. Sports have a key role to play in building a more sustainable community, which makes it a perfect fit for this effort”.
The Chairman of Ezdan Holding Group, Sheikh Khalid bin Thani bin Abdullah al Thani said that his group pledges to support the program to achieve its objectives in reducing water and electricity wastage. He further said that it is our goal to preserve the environment and the energy sources as well as to rationalize the consumption in order to pave the way for a bright future.
Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Issa Bin Mohammed Al Mohannadi, Chairman of Qatar Tourism Authority said that Environmental sustainability is at the core of the National Tourism Sector Strategy 2030 and QTA is committed to ensuring that developments in the tourism sector are aligned with the objectives of the National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency.
KAHRAMAA also honoured representatives of Gardens Department, Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning, Unilever Company, ConocoPhilips, Doha Film Institute, Qatar Debate and Iberdrola Company for their support to the Tarsheed campaign through signing of memorandums of understanding, social support, scientific and research participation.
