Qatar Hosts the first GCC Electricity and water benchmarking workshop

The state of Qatar hosted the first GCC workshop on electricity and water benchmarking on Wednesday, March 25th 2015. The workshop aims to enhance GCC electricity and water performance.

At the beginning of the workshop, Eng. Nasser Mohammed Al-Naemi, Electricity Distribution Manager at Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation “KAHRAMAA”  and Workshop Chairman welcomed the team work in Qatar, to discuss the work papers and set the regulatory frameworks to reach the targets.
Eng. Jassim Al-Mansouri Head of Water Loss and Leak presented a work paper on Qatar Experience to reduce water leak at Water network. Eng. Al-Mansouri highlighted the distribution and leak systems stressing that all countries have plans to reduce leaks. KAHRAMAA has initiated new mechanism to monitor and control water through SKADA to develop and promote the continual control of water network.
KAHRAMAA presented another work paper on KAHRAMAA experiences to develop its long term strategy. The role of the protective maintenance was also discussed in the workshop.
The Saudi Arabia presented a work paper on the concept of benchmarking and the impact on water services improvement in GCC countries. Kuwait presented a paper as well.
The workshop is meant to improve the performance of GCC electricity and water sectors to reach a balanced performance.
It is worth to mention that the State of Qatar has hosted the first benchmarking workshop in cooperation with the General Secretariat to discuss the work papers presented by GCC countries. The workshop is meant to review the national and international experiences and the GCC electricity and water benchmarking results.
